How’s it going?

How’s it going with beginning to read Homer’s Odyssey?

Pat and I have discussed a couple of things that seem helpful:

– don’t read the whole introduction before you start reading the book (again, certainly read pages xiii – xviii)

– do a “superficial” read first (as laid out in “How to Read a Book” chapter 4); this translation certainly allows for a relatively easy straight read

– refer back to the introduction at times (and certainly read the whole introduction before you start a second, analytical read)

I’m a little more than half-way through the book. Andre is right. It gets better and better.

How is it going for you?

– Phil

Insiya – I’m glad you are having a good experience reading this translation of the Odyssey.

And, yes, it does use "modern" language. The language used is part of the art of this translation and why we chose it based on Andre’s recommendation.

Enjoy :-)
